Happy Friday!! So I noticed how one of the gals I follow on instagram, Lex Daddio (@restoring_radiance), does Friday favorites every week! I really like the idea, so I think I may borrow it and try and do one of these posts every week!
I’ve really tried to cherish this week week since I’m flying from Bozeman back to Birmingham this upcoming Wednesday. To be honest, I’m not suited for long distance relationships. I’m not sure any of us really are, but I’m really bad at it. I mean, it’s of course worth it, but it’s not easy. Luckily, Timothy and I get married this May, and all this long distance stuff will be over soon!
Okay, so, here’s my favorites + a few things I’ve learned this week!
1 – Matcha Lattes with Oat Milk
If you follow me on Instagram, you probably know that I have recently rekindled my love for matcha, and specifically matcha lattes with oat milk. Matcha is one of those the “superfoods” that is actually a superfood – not just hype and marketing. Scientific papers show that matcha has real life benefits! Not all of the research found causal benefits of matcha , but there have been several health benefits associated with matcha. Specifically, matcha packs in a large amount of a catechin called EGCG , which can fight the effects of cancer on the body. Scientific papers show that matcha could also help to prevent heart disease, type 2 diabetes and cancer, and even encourage weight loss. Time Magazine has a great article that outlines what science has to say about matcha, if you guys wanna go and check it out!
2 – The Chalene Show – Daily Habits to Improve Health and Productivity in 2019
So I actually listened to this podcast last week but it’s definitely still worth mentioning!! I love Chalene but sometimes I feel like everything she does has some sort of pitch/ she’s always trying to make a sale. I get that’s part of the business but it can still be a tad annoying sometimes. But this podcast is definitely the exception!! After listening to this I left with a ton of helpful, actionable tips to take me into the new year.
3 – Hiring an Outside Running Coach
This past week, I decided it was time I seek outside help for training. I’m training for a half marathon this upcoming June, and I’ve recently realized I’m not nearly as internally motivated to run as I thought. I think that hiring the coach (actually my coach from college) will be well worth the investment and keep me motivated to run!
4 – Local Bakeries and Treats, #balance
So if you’ve been following me, you probably know that my goal for this year is to follow a more whole foods based diet. However, I am not that type of person that can just completely cut out anything when it comes to diet. That’s just too extreme for me, and I’m happier and healthier when I stay balanced – aka, eating a mostly whole foods based diet with some treats every once and a while.
This week, Timothy and I ventured to a couple local bakeries with some seriously delicious treats. My favorites were a 7 layer bar and an apple carrot muffin- so good!! Plus, it’s so fun to see these cute bakeries and support some local businesses!
Patience, Trust, and Not Freaking Out
– Just so y’all know, this is just one of the dresses I tried on – not the one I hate or the one I’m getting (:
I had a complete meltdown this week, let me tell ya. So, a couple weeks ago, I started questioning my wedding dress. I bought it about a month ago, and their policy is no returns or exchanges. I kept looking at pictures of it, trying to picture myself on my wedding day, and trying to tell myself that this was the dressed I loved.
But, the more I looked at it, the more I realized I seriously hated it. Like, a lot. So, as you can probably imagine, I was in total freak out melt mode. I called the store and cried, I cried to Timothy, and I cried to my mom- I was seriously a total baby. Once I got over myself and took the time to think about it, I figured out a solution. I was going to sell the dress online and buy another one (I already know which one I’m getting), I mean duh.
Of course, it’s not ideal, but I really freaked out over nothing. Deep down, I knew I was going to figure out something, as cliche as that sounds. Anyways, crisis averted, and I’ve learned how not to react in the future. It’s time for me to calm down, and realize that the most important thing about this whole wedding is that I’m getting married, and all of the other stuff isn’t going to make or break our day.
Well that’s about it!! Timothy and I wish you all a wonderful weekend!
